About this viz: This line graph shows patterns for three types of hospital visits over time: emergency department visits, ambulatory surgeries, and patient discharges. Using this chart, we can see how the number of monthly visits for all three hospital visit types dropped dramatically after the COVID-19 pandemic was declared in March 2020.
This viz uses a combination of geom_line(), geom_vline(), and geom_richtext() to highlight changes in healthcare touchpoints in relation to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
